• MEN'S APPAREL Under the direction of the Bishop family, Pendleton expanded its woolen manufacturing into other areas. Wool shirts for men were originally utilitarian items, but under C.M. Bishop's vision, Pendleton started producing wool shirts in vivid colors and intricate patterns. In 1924, the legendary Pendleton virgin wool men's shirt was born, and by 1929, Pendleton was offering a full line of men's virgin wool sportswear.

• WOMEN'S APPAREL In 1949, Pendleton expanded its manufacturing to include women's wear. The introduction of the '49er jacket that year gained instant popularity, becoming a perfect match for the emerging suburban lifestyle of postwar America. As the apparel division thrived, Pendleton responded to the need for non-wool garments to complement its fine woolens, introducing distinctively styled, non-wool menswear and womenswear for spring and summer wear in 1972. Pendleton became a year-round sportswear resource.
